Beyond the world-famous classical gardens of Suzhou, the place that has won over families in recent years is undoubtedly Jinji Lake. Here, you can take in the scenery, catch sunrises and sunsets, watch the world's first skylight at Yuanrong Times Square, admire European-style architecture at Moonlight Pier and Ligongdi Phase III, soak up the long-missed scent of books at Eslite Bookstore, and enjoy what is honestly the perfect weekend or mini-vacation spot for the whole family.

Through it, you almost feel like you can see Suzhou's past come alive.
After dinner, we decided to take in Suzhou's night scenery. If you prefer ancient charm, head to Pingjiang Road or Shantang Street in the old town. If you're more into the modern vibe, Jinji Lake in the SIP is the place to be. The entire loop around the lake offers fantastic night views—if you're driving, you can circle the whole thing. From the Gate of the Orient on the west shore to Ligongdi on the south, the Ferris wheel park on the east, and Moonlight Pier on the north, there are also major commercial hubs like Suzhou Center and Yuanrong Square nearby. On weekends and holidays, you can catch the musical fountain show and the Yuanrong skylight.
The Jinji Lake night cruise is a signature offering from the commercial water tour. Each direction offers a different perspective, and you can soak in the vast, misty night scenery of the lake. Tickets are 60 RMB, though you can also opt for a private yacht. From the boat, you get both the charm of the water town and the vibrant energy of the SIP—the perfect blend of old Suzhou's elegance and modern flair. With its concept of "a pearl, a shadow wall, a garden," it shines as a radiant jewel in Suzhou style on the shores of Jinji Lake. As neon lights flicker on, everything takes on a newfound vibrancy, and one stunning scene after another unfolds before your eyes.

But this roaring bull, once it arrives outside the gentle, elegant city of Suzhou, sheds its aggressive persona and pulls off a fascinating act of classical-meets-modern reinvention. Tucked away along the shimmering shores of Jinji Lake, with warm and cool tones intertwined and Chinese and Western styles mixed, this relatively compact hotel has become one of Suzhou's true gems.
