About Kaiyuan Temple
Kaiyuan Temple is Chaozhou's most important Buddhist temple, founded in 738 during the Tang Dynasty. Over its 1,300-year history, the temple has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times, but it continues to preserve the finest traditions of Chaozhou Buddhist architecture and practice.
The temple complex features traditional halls with intricate wood carvings, stone sculptures, and ornate roof decorations characteristic of Chaozhou style.
