Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (Yulong Xueshan)

About Jade Dragon Snow Mountain

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is a sacred mountain range rising to 5,596 meters, located just 30 kilometers from Lijiang. The mountain is sacred to the Naxi people, who believe it is the dwelling place of their protective deity. The range features 13 peaks, with the highest permanently covered in snow and glaciers.

Visitors can access the mountain via cable cars that reach different elevations. The highest cable car reaches 4,506 meters, offering views of glaciers and snow-capped peaks. At lower elevations, alpine meadows, pristine forests, and Blue Moon Valley — a series of turquoise lakes fed by glacial meltwater — create a landscape of extraordinary beauty. The mountain is also home to diverse flora and fauna, including rare species adapted to high altitudes.
