Canton Tower (Guangzhou Ta)

About Canton Tower

Canton Tower is Guangzhou's most recognizable landmark, a 600-meter hyperboloid structure that has become a symbol of the city's modern transformation. Designed by Dutch architect Mark Hemel, the tower's twisting form — wider in the middle than at the base or top — has earned it the affectionate nickname "Slim Waist" (小č›Ū腰).

The tower features multiple observation decks at different heights, with the highest at 488 meters. Visitors can enjoy 360-degree views of Guangzhou's vast urban landscape, the Pearl River winding through the city, and on clear days, the mountains of Hong Kong and Macau in the distance. At night, the tower's LED lighting system creates spectacular color displays that can be seen across the city.

What Not to Miss

  • The 488-meter observation deck — the highest in the world with outdoor viewing areas.

  • The bubble tram at the top — a glass-enclosed ride around the tower's perimeter.

  • Night views when the tower and city are illuminated — a spectacular urban vista.
