Tianmen Mountain (Tianmen Shan)

About Tianmen Mountain

Tianmen Mountain (Heaven's Gate Mountain) is one of Zhangjiajie's most dramatic attractions, featuring a natural arch high in the cliff face that resembles a gateway to heaven. The mountain is accessible via one of the world's longest cable cars, which ascends 1,279 meters over 7,455 meters of cable, offering spectacular views of the mountain's cliffs and forests.

At the top, visitors can walk the cliff-hanging glass skywalks (for those brave enough), explore the temples near Heaven's Gate, and descend the 999 steps to the arch itself. The mountain is considered sacred in Chinese culture, and the arch is believed to be a portal between heaven and earth. On misty days, the mountain's peaks disappear into clouds, creating an ethereal atmosphere.
