East Lake (Donghu)

About East Lake

East Lake is China's largest urban lake, covering 33 square kilometers with over 100 kilometers of shoreline β€” six times the size of Hangzhou's West Lake. The lake is divided into several sections, each with its own character: the Cherry Blossom Garden, the Lotus Garden, and the Listening to Waves area, among others.

The lake is a paradise for outdoor activities. Cycling around the lake is one of Wuhan's most popular pastimes, with dedicated bike paths offering beautiful views. In spring (March-April), the cherry blossoms create a spectacular display of pink and white. In summer, lotus flowers cover parts of the lake. The lake's size means it's never crowded, and visitors can find peaceful spots for picnics, photography, or simply enjoying the water and sky.
